Challenge
I started The Claude Insider as a project of my own. A new publication begins with a discovery problem — nobody is searching for a site that doesn't exist yet.
The goal was to take a site from an idea to its first real search audience, and to learn the launch and distribution work firsthand rather than from a dashboard.
Approach
I treated distribution as part of getting the publication started, not a step that comes after. As qualifying articles are published, The Claude Insider's RSS feed updates automatically, and its Google News sitemap surfaces the most recent two days of coverage. That builds discovery into the publishing workflow without a separate manual submission for every story. The practical lesson is to automate distribution alongside production. Google decides which eligible stories appear in its news surfaces.
I went from the idea to seeing the first organic traffic in less than 24 hours. The chart here measures Google Web Search visibility; it does not measure traffic from Google News.
Use the right denominator when reading the milestone
The reported totals imply an aggregate click rate of roughly 0.40%: 403 divided by 100,254, multiplied by 100. That calculation summarizes this measurement window. It does not show whether later queries, individual pages, or audiences had the same rate.
- Measurement window
- January 14–April 23, 2026
- Web Search impressions
- 100,254
- Web Search clicks
- 403
- Aggregate click rate
- About 0.40%
Use the milestone as evidence of search exposure for this publication, not a forecast for another site. Keep Google Web Search separate from Google News and from website analytics sessions. A business website should also connect inquiries with customer fit and sales follow-up.
Check this before you proceed
- Keep the property, dates and search type visible.
- Distinguish impressions from clicks and visitors.
- Inspect page and query detail before generalizing.

Result
Google Search Console recorded the site's first impressions on January 14 and its first clicks on January 15. By April 23, it had accumulated 100,254 impressions and 403 clicks — 99 days from first recorded impressions.
For me, the value of running an owned publication is getting to work through the launch myself. The Claude Insider gave me direct experience taking a site from an idea to its first search audience, including the distribution work around it.
A new publication and an established business website start with different problems. This project needed discovery; my ActionVFX project involved improving an existing catalog at scale.
